Gothic castle

Loket

Loket Castle is a 12th-century Gothic castle in the town of Loket in the Karlovy Vary Region of the Czech Republic. It is located on a massive rock, surrounded on three sides by the Ohře river. Once known as "the Impregnable Castle of Bohemia", because of its thick walls, it is one of the oldest stone castles in the country.

The castle was originally built as a stronghold in the 12th century, but it was later expanded and fortified. It was used as a royal residence by the Přemyslid dynasty, and it was also used as a prison. The castle was damaged during the Thirty Years' War, but it was restored in the 19th century.

The castle is a popular filming location, and it has been featured in a number of movies and TV shows, including Casino Royale and The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian.
