Lnáře

Historic city with two castles

Lnáře

The town is known for its two castles, the Old Castle and the New Castle.

The Old Castle was built in the 13th century and was originally a Gothic fortress. It was later expanded and modified in the Renaissance and Baroque periods. The castle is now a ruin, but it is still an impressive sight.

The New Castle was built in the 17th century and is a Baroque masterpiece. It is a two-storey four-wing castle with richly decorated interiors. The castle is home to a number of artworks, including wall paintings by Giacomo Tencalla and stucco work by Jan Brokoff.

The two castles are located in the center of Lnáře, and they are surrounded by a beautiful park.

In addition to the two castles, Lnáře is also home to a number of other historical buildings, including a church, a town hall, and a number of old houses. The town is also known for its traditional folk costumes and its annual folk festival.
